We were able to experience Lincoln's assassination by reading the first hand description from the man who was with Lincoln in the Ford's Theatre box that tragic night. Many times slaves were transported to freedom in a wagon with a "false bottom." The slaves hid in the bottom of the wagon while goods were on top of the "false floor." Here is a picture of a false bottom wagon.
